Women,
Please join us and our facilitator, Lutrica Callair, for a very special two-day workshop to bring together a diverse group of women in order to strengthen our bonds and our community. Lutricia (Pat) has been an activist since she was a child during the civil rights movement in the south. Beginning in the early 1970s and for nearly her entire life, she has been an outspoken leader of the women's movement. She is currently the Executive Director of the Leadership and Empowerment Institute, working with at-risk children and teens. She is also an instructor at the Africana Women's Studies Program at Bennett College.
Pat is a model for those of us trying to find our voices and do the work that is necessary to create peace in a world full of chaos and confusion. Her voice is one of wisdom and perspective that many of us long to hear. When asked about the importance of these workshops, Pat responds, "The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960'S was successful because we had each other's backs. We did the community building. We did the hard work."
Pat believes that women's voices are needed now more than ever and that by bringing together the women of our community, we can have a positive impact on the violence, social injustice and issues that plague our communities. And she is coming back to facilitate this very special women's workshop.
The Suggested Donation is $100 for the two-day event to cover travel and lodging for facilitators who are donating their time. But anyone is welcome regardless of ability to pay. There is room for 30 participants at this event. If you want to attend, please plan to be there for the two full days. It is a big commitment as we are all busy, but this is a life-changing experience and there is a need to truly get to know and understand each other.
If you are a woman living in the Chicago area and plan to attend please RSVP at the bottom.
